I've had the privilege of working at these locations (for elopements & weddings too), and I’m excited to share some of my favorites with you!

Top Locations in Alabama for Your Next Photoshoot

downtown birmingham

Downtown Birmingham is incredibly versatile. It offers many spots to shoot at or around. Alleys, bridges, parking decks, beautiful buildings. Alabama Theatre, Birmingham Museum of Art, Federal Building US Courthouse, Highland Park, Morris Avenue, Pepper Place Entertainment District, Railroad Park, Shoppe, & so many more!

Moss Rock Preserve | Hoover, AL

Second to Cheaha, this is the most sought after location I shoot at. Trails, boulder fields, creeks, small waterfalls, a sandstone glade, towering trees. It feels truly ethereal & home-y all in one.

oak mountain state park | Pelham, AL

Oak Mountain State Park is a huge! It’s truly difficult to encompass all of the terrain & trails you can access, but it’s effortlessly beautiful. Maybe you’ll find yourself at the lake, Ada’s overlook, King’s Chair, or Peavine Falls.

cheaha state park | DELTA, AL

This is my favorite location in all of Alabama, mainly because it offers some of the most beautiful views in the entire state. Bald Rock, Rock Garden, Pulpit Rock, Pinhoti Trail, Chinnabee Silent Trail. I’ve been there on sunny days, cloudy days, rainy days, foggy days, windy days, hot days, & cold days. No matter the day, the magic never subsides.

Little River Canyon | Fort Payne, AL

Little River Canyon is a hidden gem nestled in Alabama’s Appalachian foothills, where crystal-clear waters carve through cliffs and forests. There are scenic overlooks and waterfalls. It’s such a peaceful place & sure to steal your breath away.

Dismals Canyon | Phil Campbell, AL

Dismals Canyon is an other-worldly spot tucked away in Alabama, where ancient rock formations, glowing "Dismalites" (bioluminescent insects), and lush greenery create an enchanting atmosphere. It’s moody & really gives some PNW vibes. AND all photo spots are in close proximity to each other!

Cherokee Rock Village | Leesburg, Al

Cherokee Rock Village is known for its massive sandstone boulders. It has sweeping views & trails that wind all around. The skyline here is INSANE. If you like to explore, this is the one.

hiking difficulty

I would say that most of the best spots at these locations are a moderate hike, a few difficult. Most of them offer some spots that are easily accessible, so don’t let that discourage you from exploring! I’ll help you navigate that.

Alabama Seasons

Spring | some blooms, lush greenery, temps ranging from mid-50s to low 80s with occasional rain showers
Summer | rich greens & wildflowers, temps in the 90s, bright sunlight, frequent thunderstorms
Fall | red, orange, yellow, & brown foliage (peaks in first two weeks of November), temps ranging from mid-50s to mid-70s with crisp, cool air and occasional rain showers
Winter | bare trees, muted landscapes, temps ranging from mid-30s to mid-50s, cold

Generally, Alabama has hot summers & mild winters. Even months that are usually considered cold can be a little warm & humid.
