How to Find Photoshoot Locations

Talk to your couple (or whoever you are photographing). Ask them what kind of things they like to do & places they like to go. This will give you some ideas about places that they may feel really comfortable hanging at while you take their pictures.

Ask yourself what kind of settings & atmosphere inspire you the most while you work.

Send suggestions over to your couple based on points one & two. Picking a location is a team effort.

Keep your eyes open & think outside of the box. Drive around. Take some notes/pictures if you see a good spot. Research. Use Google maps & label/pin places.

Know that it’s okay to shoot at the same place more than once and still find ways to make it as unique as your couple. If you start to feel uninspired by your location, change it up or come back to it at a later time.

Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. Even if the photographer down the road shot somewhere you just shot at the other day, they are not you. Your job is to do you. Just pull up your boots & get out there.

Don’t lose sight of the reality that how a shoot feels is usually more important than how it looks.
