What Makes Your Wedding Day Valuable

Your Wedding Day Matters.

A few weeks ago, I had a chat with one of my brides (Abbie) - about how COVID-19 has affected her & her husband-to-be’s (Sam) wedding planning. At that point, they were having to consider options and alternatives in the case that they needed to have them. I remember Abbie saying that what really mattered was that even if everything didn't come together the way that they originally planned, her & Sam were still getting married and that they wanted to keep the focus on that. It made my heart swell to hear those words. We've chatted a couple of times since then and I've continued to admire her's & Sam's attitudes in a time where there seems to be a lot of uncertainty. Her words are something my own passions for this job align with, but they are also encouragement for those of you who might be in the same predicament right now. It's okay to be disappointed or maybe even sad that your special day isn't going to look like you first imagined, but it doesn't make it any less special.⁣

There are going to be a lot of things in the planning that you have to decide whether or not it's essential/important. It's not about pleasing others. It's not about following trends. It's not about being magazine-worthy. It's not about how much you spend. Because marriages aren't built on those things. Only do/invest in the things that truly add value to what your day means.

XO, Dakota
